Well … this tears it.

I’ve been losing interest — losing faith, in many ways — in Air America Radio over the past few months.

First Katherine Lampher gets driven off Al Franken’s show, leaving Al to drive his no-longer-funny jokes into the ground. I can’t listen to it any more. I’ve tried.

Then Mark Maron gets kicked off Morning Sedition, despite months of concerted efforts from fans of a show which combined news, talk and comedy in a wonderful mix that was everything Al Franken wished his show was … ah, so maybe that was it … but I digress.

So by mid December I was left with Rachel Maddow and Kyle Jason. Rachel for the day’s important news and Kyle once a week for, as he put it, “the decompression chamber” — music, information, talk, with the intent to “reach, teach and inspire.” Which it did. So, so well!

Now Air America has made all their podcasts subscription only — so there goes Rachel Maddow — and there hadn’t been a new Kyle Jason since New Year’s Eve. Two “best of” repeats, then this past two weeks, nothing at all.

Then today, one of the posters on the AARPlace (home of the podcast archive) message board posted an email she got from Kyle’s producer, in response to the question, “Where’s Kyle’s show?” It read, simply:

“Cancelled. We’re all mourning.”

So am I. Mourning. And mad.

Shame on you, Danny Goldberg.

Air America Radio, you are dead to me.
